Shore Drink of the Week: Yards High Dive

🍺 Perfect summer starter

OK so I love me a good can. I saw this at Super Liquors a couple of weeks ago and had to put it in my preliminary summer stash collection based on the packaging alone. I hadn’t seen it before.

At this point - late May heading into Memorial Day - you need a good light beer to turn the page to warm weather, but you can’t just dive right into Tan Limes yet, you animal.

Here’s how Yards describes it: A day at the beach is never outta reach when you reach for a High Dive, Summer's perfect Pilsner.

Eh, copy editor could use a thesaurus, but it gets the job done.

It’s very good. Like an evolved version of a Miller Lite. That’s not a knock. It has the more pretzel-y flavor that you’d expect with a quality pilsner, without going full Merkel and smothering you in its Deutschtum. Meanwhile the lemon hops lighten things up (though it’s very subtle). 4.8%. Might as well be 2.8. Easily drinkable. You’ll want a little more sweetness for the real hot weather, but perfect palate starter for summer.

This will be pitch perfect for the Phillies’ 4:10 p.m. start against the Braves on Saturday just as things are cooling down a bit.
